Last night (5.3.24), the vibrant sounds of Mexican singer and songwriter Caloncho filled the air at the Paper Tiger, in San Antonio, Texas. The energy was electric, The atmosphere crackled with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited the moment when the stage would come alive, they sang along to both his greatest hits and tracks from his new album, “Tofu”.

With over a decade in the music industry, Caloncho has carved out a unique niche for himself. Born Óscar Alfonso Castro in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico, he began his musical journey by experimenting with melodies on the guitar. His stage name, Caloncho, was affectionately given to him by his grandfather and step-sister when he was a child1. Since then, he has become a beloved figure in the indie pop and reggae scene.

Caloncho treated the audience to a mix of his timeless hits, including favorites like “Palmar,” “Paloma,” “Luciernaga”, and “Bálsamo.”
Fans were thrilled to hear songs from his latest album, “Tofu” which seamlessly blend his unique musical style with Mexican folk rhythms and urban sound, the venue was packed, and the crowd’s enthusiasm was contagious. Everyone danced, sang, and celebrated the magic of live music.
